There’s something about winter, even in a desert, that shifts the energy and lifts the mood. It’s not just the festive mood now that school is on break. There’s something about seeing your own breath fog over the air that elevates and energizes, for me. Winter, that season of dormancy or hibernation, can be such a time of renewal.
Plus, now that we’ve finally reached our cooler temperatures, my daughter can believe all of those times I’ve quoted Game of Thrones by saying, “Winter is coming.” Her typical response has been, “you know nothing, Jon Snow.” Eventually, I was bound to win. 🙂
“Even the strongest blizzards start with a single snowflake.” ~ Sara Raasch
“In the winter, she curls up around a good book and dreams away the cold.” ~ Ben Aaronovitch
“The pine stays green in winter…wisdom in hardship.” ~ Norman Douglas
“Welcome, winter. Your late dawns and chilled breaths make me lazy, but I love you nonetheless.” ~ Terri Guillemets
Blessings to you all. Never give up. Rest through the cold, feast on the work you’ve done, and know that spring comes sooner than you think.
