Excellence ~ A Friday Philosophy Note

I think most of us want to do what we do well. As my Dad points out, no one shows up every day wanting to do terribly.

What is excellence, though? It comes down to a lot more than lip service. Excellence is found in action, not just words. Anyone can say the right thing repeatedly. The rubber meets the road where those words turn into deeds.

So, for a Friday night, some thoughts on excellence. 🙂

“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” ~ Vince Lombardi

”Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” ~ Aristotle

“Focus on making yourself better, not on thinking you are better.” ~ Bodhi Sanders

“The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.” ~ Socrates

“Excellence encourages one about life generally; it shows the spiritual wealth of the world.” ~ George Eliot

One thing I have noticed, both from a writing/working standpoint and at home, is that excellence is contagious: every one gets onto the same wavelength, in their own pursuits. It’s an uplifting outcome.

Wishing you a blissful Friday night, and a wonderful weekend ahead.

Blessings to you all.
