I’ve never been a city girl
thrilling to the crush of crowds
energized by the noise and rush
of traffic-laden streets
and busy sidewalks

I visit and join the madness
an around-the-clock hustle
to the next urgent task
but find myself longing
for darkness at night and quieter days
