Tuesday Thoughts…The Undead

I think I’ll divide my time between “holiday-appropriate” and cancer awareness this month! 🙂

The undead. How about those guys? Whether it’s zombies, ghosts, or vampires, the undead certainly seem to be a hot (or cold) topic. Dip into any piece of horror fiction, and you’re bound to find some form of the undead. For that matter, dip into some of the young adult lit out there and you will find very glamorous depictions of the undead.

Whether you glorify or demonize them, they do seem to occupy a special place in our cultural entertainment. Maybe we’re all so afraid of death that we prefer to see some alternative? Who knows?

“The undead did not love, but they remembered love with a savage loyalty.” ~ Kim Harrison

“I’m not afraid of werewolves or vampires or haunted hotels, I’m afraid of what real human beings do to other real human beings.” ~ Walter Jon Williams (I agree.)

“All writers are vampires.” ~ James Gandolfini (You have been warned! Now, I have to analyze this for hours. Haha.)

“It had occurred to him that if the undead don’t realize that they are dead, he might easily be one of them himself.” ~ Dan Chaon

“Sometimes dead is better.” ~ Stephen King

Blessings…

  1. Well you should add this one too …
‘Something coming back from the dead was almost always bad news. Movies taught me that. For every one Jesus you get a million zombies.’
