I’ve been reading a lot about inspiration lately. Also, I’ve been reading inspiring books which, for me, start the thought process on inspiration as well.
I attended Catholic school during my elementary years, and I remember one of the nuns telling us about inspiration. She said that inspiration always comes from God – that it’s an idea that God breathes life into for us. Being the kid I was, I had to ask how she knew it was God. Now that I’m an adult and can better express and explain myself (somewhat, haha) I can tell all of you that I was aiming for information about the DEFINITION of the word. I guess I wanted to know if the dictionary said something like, “Inspiration: An idea God sends to your brain.” She said something about inspiration coming to us out of the blue, that it could never be explained, like miracles. Best. Explanation. Ever. (Memorable, too. Thank you, Sister Corinne!)
Inspiration is a near miraculous thing: firing you up and taking you – if you let it – into new territory.
So, some other thoughts on inspiration for you all today:
“Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.” ~ Neil Gaiman
“You never have to change anything you got up in the middle of the night to write.” ~ Saul Bellow
“Be brave about it. Be stubborn about it. Be the hero of your own story. But most importantly, begin!” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” ~ St. Francis of Assisi
Blessings to you all. Open yourself to inspiration. Never give up!
