Red lipstick
beneath a veil
Running shoes
beneath long skirts
We stand
refusing to be invisible
taking up space
and making noise
We march
for education
for suffrage
for rights to our own bodies
And we persist
rebellion
carried within each of our hearts
as we remember
the warriors
who breathed life
into us
when we were no more than
dreams
around a fire
and a spell
cast into the smoke – Caroline A. Slee
