When writing can be an anonymous and thankless job, why do we do it?
First of all, I shouldn’t speak for the masses. I feel like I can speak anecdotally, at least, because of conversations with my fellow authors. We write because that creative pursuit is intrinsic to who we are.
It’s how we process our world, how we emote, how we find that deep connect human beings often long to find.
But what takes us to the level of publishing or self-publishing?
Are we crazy egomaniacs? Are we gluttons for punishment? Do we feel like what we do doesn’t count unless there’s an audience?
Sometimes it is all of the above.
But sometimes, it’s just a gift we want to share. When you’re enthusiastic and passionate about something – whether it be writing or some other “something” – we often want to share that joy with everyone around us. Publishing is a writer’s way of being an evangelist.
And for me?
Writing is the deep connect, all on its own. It allows me to connect with myself, with the people I love, with the world I inhabit. It broadens the environment for an introvert like me.

Happy #Monday, and blessings to you all.
