The landscape of the sky

changes altogether:

a gathering of motion

descending through the clouds.

The winter months

send them off

to find air to breathe

and room to live.

We watch the skies

for seasonal songs

in a pattern

older than memory.

The days are marked

by the silent flutter

above

in the flight

from bitterness

and dark. – Caroline A. Slee
