We like things tidy:
story endings, homes, lives
chasing loose and scattered
objects as the year comes to the close
We tie things into knots –
fancy bows, sailors’ knots, Celtic art –
in the name of those tidy ends
we spend our time
fighting against the messiness of life
latching the door against the old
rushing in with the new
but we carry it all with us
literal or metaphor
every spill and every stumble
remembered on the journey – Caroline A. Slee
