A Song of Sadness
In real life, over the past month we have lost two of our dear friends. So, in the process of grieving and funerals, this poem, “A Song of Sadness,” started.
Sink me in the ocean
Weigh me down with stones
Set me to “sleep with the fishes”
So that I shall never be alone
Leave me on the mountaintop
Face up towards the sky
One with the vultures and the crows
Finally free to fly
Cast me solid in alabaster
Set me one hundred feet high
Shining from sunlight to distant towns
Never far from your mind
Lay me to rest with gentle breezes
Whisper sweet words to give me peace
A final kiss, an end to pain
Until we can be together again – Caroline A. Slee
