Would fill more than one thimble. I have no problem with the more traditional styles of marketing. Marketing my own books? A whole new ball game!
Yes, I read books on how to market before I published. Yes, I have a website whiz helping me out. Now, I just need to keep plugging away. Still, I find it tricky.
I love writing biographies for other writers’ and artists’ websites and profiles. When it comes to writing my own bio, I get completely awkward. Hence (for those of you who have seen my amazon author page) the odd reference to my “highly neurotic dog.” I feel I sound too stilted, too formal, so I throw in the random factoid about my spaniel mix. She must know that I am writing about her right now, because she’s staring at me in a bit of a bug-eyed manner. Can dogs be treated for anxiety? Really, I’d like to know.
My Dad jokingly refers to blog posts in which he references seminars or webinars that he is holding as “shameless self-promotion.” When you run your own business, if you do not promote yourself, who will? So, I continue research the marketing side of things, and I continue writing. I’ve set this insane pace for myself this year, but I already had so many projects completed that I chose to publish one book per month. Yes, the next book will be out on March 1st – my first published non-fiction. The sequel to “Blessings” will release on April 1st. The remainder of the year will be divided between my non-fiction, health texts, and my supernatural fiction. I have to say, 2014 is shaping up to be an exciting year. 🙂
Happy Sunday, and blessings to you all…
