There are 7500
varieties of apples
growing around the globe
but we still narrow it down to 1
the apple of my eye
is it an American apple?
we still arrive with too many choices
2500 in the Republic today
as the people tear themselves apart
the apples grow
or perhaps we face the Brexiting apple
still far too broad
at 1750 in the Kingdom alone
whether it is Europe or on its own
the apple of my eye
perhaps a honeycrisp
to bring sweetness
though it seems too new for the feeling
or a pink lady
to delight the children
though they have grown and flown
a gala for the mild flavor
a counterpoint to my own crabapple
the apple of my eye
is not narrow enough
for the unique
for the you
