Morning Meditations

I stand in the sun
breathing in the day’s gratitude
taking in the sleepy world
before traffic awakens to the roads
the doves and the bees
make short work of their music
while the rabbits
duck in and out of hiding
wildlife in the suburbs
greets my awakening eyes
