It’s that time of year. Everyone is out doing last minute shopping, while trying to remember the reason for this holiday.
I thought I’d go for the history lesson.
Yule was a pagan holiday that was absorbed into the Christian tradition of Christmas. Yule was basically significant because it coincided with the Winter Solstice, meaning that the days would slowly start to get longer after the solstice.
Yule commemorated the light triumphing over the darkness. This wasn’t just a metaphorical, but a literal, fact. And it was celebrated every year.
We had a doctor tell us once that we should never pass up an opportunity for a celebration or a party. I agree wholeheartedly.
So, as light overtakes the darkness, I wish you celebrations and joy and togetherness.
Blessings to you all…
