Friday Philosophy…Fantasy

This week, both my Maddie and Moses had a birthday. Although I still feel somewhat sleep deprived, I’m happy to say that a wonderful time was had by all. We spent some time in the world of Harry Potter, and it had me thinking about this entire world J.K. Rowling created from her own mind.

Anais Nin said that “dreams are necessary to life.” What better dreams than those driven by the creations of imagination? To paraphrase Albus Dumbledore, just because something is happening in your head, that doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then it’s our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!”
~ J.R.R. Tolkien

“If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can transform one million realities.” ~ Maya Angelou

“It is in our idleness, in our dreams, that the submerged truth sometimes comes to the top.” ~ Virginia Woolf

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.” ~ J.M. Barrie

Happy Friday, and blessings to you all…
