I’ve been thinking about mantras lately. A mantra is a personal slogan. You can choose any mantra you like: invent your own, quote a famous one, however you want to do it.
But, why? What’s the point?
Sometimes, it helps to have a positive focal phrase or reminder. It seems way too easy to remember every negative thing we’ve ever heard about ourselves. It’s nice to offset those recordings and self-doubt with something that moves us in the opposite direction.
Instead of simply sharing what others think of mantras, I thought I’d just share some mantras here today. You may like them, or not. They may resonate for you, or fall flat. Just know that for someone, somewhere, the quotes became a mantra. What’s you mantra?
“What you seek is seeking you.” ~ Rumi ~ Am I the only one who thinks this mantra must be a mixed bag for people who are ghost hunters?
“The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea.” ~ Isak Dinesen ~ Additionally, Irish people believe tea and fresh air are cure-alls.
“Action conquers fear.” ~ Peter Nivio Zarlenga
“Never love anybody who treats you like you’re ordinary.” ~ Oscar Wilde
“Fighter.” ~ Kara Goucher ~ I really love that this is one word. Your mantra can be anything that makes sense for you.
“Either I will find a way, or I will make one.” ~ Phillip Sidney
“Who is tougher than me?” ~ Cheryl Strayed
“Embrace the glorious mess that you are.” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert
OM.
Blessings to you all. Never give up!
