We seek refuge
Hidden away beyond hills
Sharing seven sunrises
With each dizzying height
Of our burning star
The world is obscured
Perhaps vanished
Until the climb
Is all that remains
And we thrill to it
Becoming stars ourselves
With each ascendance
The air thins
Parting for our passage
Welcoming us upward
To take our places
In the sky – Caroline A. Slee
