Lara and I have a friend who wears a necklace of a single angel’s wing. When asked about it recently, she explained that she believes we are – each of us – angels with only one wing: it is only when we embrace each other that we are able to take flight.
I love that.
Since hearing those words, I’ve been thinking about angels. I truly believe that angels are much like miracles: if you believe in them, you will see them everywhere. Perhaps I have a quirky viewpoint, but I even see angels in disguise on my morning run. This morning, that angel in disguise was in the form of a bird (I’ve no idea what kind), who travelled just ahead of me – from signpost to fence post to rock – and waited for me at each stopping point. I never did quite catch up, but I worked harder because of that little bird. I think of him as my angelic cheerleader/drill sergeant. 🙂
Some other thoughts on angels:
“I saw the angel in the marble, and carved until I set him free.” ~ Michelangelo
“…I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way.” ~ the Book of Exodus, 23:20
“Music is well said to be the speech of angels.” ~ Thomas Carlyle
Angels, everywhere.
Blessings to you all…
