What we once knew

Has fallen away

Covered over

By an ever-changing

Landscape

Water reclaims

What was once her own

First by inches

Ever-faster

And then by miles

The world sinks

Beneath the weight

Of its own hatred

Until the water

Washes us away

A baptism

To rid the planet

Of all we have wrought – Caroline A. Slee

A drowning world
