It’s as if some cloud-borne deity
Struck a pause button on the programming
As we run amok like hamsters on a wheel
Without knowledge or direction
With nothing but the memory that tells us we must never stop
It is as if the lesson here seeks to teach us calm
An enforced stop and rest while we spin our wheels
We have forgotten how to be
Just that
Defined by career
and achievement
and never ending motion
Instead of the moment of breath
Being present within our own bodies
Seeing clearly the world we have created
Slowing to a stop and protesting along the way
Nature wins every time
Though mankind thinks itself superior
Life finds a way
To teach us all we have forgotten – Caroline A. Slee
