Did you know they made a movie about us?!

Lara and I had a 12 hour long date today.  🙂  We actually did perform one errand (which involved a tiny amount of heavy lifting) but had the opportunity to see a movie rated more than PG, and go to a fancy dinner.

We went to see “This Is 40.”

Bear in mind that Lara and I celebrate our birthdays 6 days apart.  We both turned 36 during the last quarter of 2012.  36.  Not 40.  We have a bit of a difference of opinion around here about age.  I am THRILLED to be 36, because, let’s face it, less than two years ago I had a really large sense of fear about the future: as in, my ability to make it into my own future.  Hey, when you are sick, no matter how positive and optimistic you may be, there are definitely moments when you look at your loved ones and wonder, “is this it?  Will I not be here for their next birthdays/Christmases/life events?”  Anyway, I digress.  We turned 36 (woot woot) and Lara says to me, “Now, we are practically 40.”  I’m happy to be 36, I feel a sense of achievement over it.  After all, it sure as hell beats the alternative, right?  All of a sudden, she is telling me we are just about 40.  What?!  No.  We.  Are.  Not.

So, we go to see this comedy, “This Is 40.”  I’m laughing so hard I am nearly crying, because it’s funny.  Then, it hits me.

Oh.  My.  Gosh.  WE ARE 40.

Their children.  Their professional situation.  (Not their parents, we lucked out there.) Their situations.  Their out of town getaways.

Holy.  Crap.  Someone planted video monitoring, GPS, and listening devices and followed us around.

They made a movie about us.

🙂

So, we have a humourous post for today.  Maybe some actual down to business dialogue for tomorrow.

Blessings to you all…
