Superfoods.
What do they do? What are they? Can they imbue us with superhero-like powers?!
Okay, maybe not that last one. đ
According to Wikipedia (because âsuperfoodâ doesnât appear in the dictionary, surprise) ââŚsuperfood is a marketing term used to describe foods with supposed health benefits.â
This term is sort of a âfluffâ term. Scientists mostly dispute that superfoods exist, to put it simply. I re-define superfood as any healthy food that gives me detectable health benefits â muscle building, energy, anti-nausea â so itâs a very personal dietary term for me.
I think coffee gets a bum rap, and ought to be counted as a superfood: it gives me energy, and saves lives (the lives of anyone who encounters me at 5:00 a.m., so not too many lives really).
If you type the word into a search engine, youâll find numerous lists of superfoods. If you want to explore adding these to your diet, I would highly recommend developing your own list.
My personal favorites:
Homemade yogurt
kiwi (read how much potassium and vitamin C is in a little kiwi â itâs awesome)
all berries
spinach
salmon
quinoa (prepared nicely with flavorful food â on its own, it doesnât taste great to me)
my homemade green drink (which wonât appear on anyone elseâ list, because itâs all mine, hahaha)
ginger
So, a healthy post in the midst of a busy week.
Health and blessings to you allâŚ
