The sky has two true loves
And sometimes they share
her arching sphere
With one expansive embrace
She can hold all within her heart
With still more love to give
The sun and the moon
Share the sky
During midnight sun falls
And early moonrises
As northern summer
Reaches beyond the horizon
The sky blankets the world
In her twilit nights
And the night
Grows melodious
With the creatures who worship
At the sky’s altar
All come seeking her grace
For the fields below
And the magpies chattering
Her gifts rule the seasons
And only her love
Brings humble earthly dreams
To their fruition
The sky has two true loves
But leaves enough
That we all come away restored:
Dancing like constellations
